Plug-and-play custom harness gets turn and brake signals on your towed car with no hardwiring or splicing, and no effect on your warranty. The built-in diodes protect your car from electrical feedback.

A combined lighting system, or 2-wire system, uses the same light bulb to signal both braking and turning. (In other words, the car signals a turn by flashing the brake light.)
A separate lighting system, or 3-wire system, has the brake signal and the turn signal light up independently of each other. Typically, the turn signal is amber.
To keep the separate lighting system on your car functioning properly while you're flat towing, add a wiring converter (118158 - sold separately) and 2 additional diodes.
If the engine is off and your car's brake lights illuminate when you press the brake pedal, you need to install a brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) with this kit. Without a relay, your car's brake signal will override the turn signal sent by the RV when you are slowing down to make a turn, creating a potentially dangerous situation. Other drivers will see that you're slowing down, but not that you're making a turn. With a brake light relay, you can signal both and travel safely.

Called my local trailer and flat tow company in my area and they quoted me $179.00 for the harness alone. I also got a quote for the install which was $350.00 and the total of $529.00. Called Etrailer and purchased the Hopkins harness that was on sale and paid total of less than $82.00. It took me around 2 hours to install with wire loom protection. Etrailer has always had excellent customer service. Big thanks to Brandon for all his help.

Simple installation and excellent quality product! I installed this harness on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler. After one year it is still performing flawlessly. Don’t do like I did on my first tow vehicle and pay someone hundreds to thousands of dollars to do something so easy. Thank you etrailer and Hopkins for easy to follow instructions and videos!

Works well. No problems thus far.
Product works well. Plug and play. No problems there. The downside was getting the wires across the back of the vehicle without contacting the muffler, and then to the front where they can be plugged into the towing vehicle. That took some routing and even drilling of some small body holes to secure wires with tie-wraps.
This harness works great for flat towing a Jeep Wrangler. The installation was straight forward and easy. It's nice to not have to run magnetic lights from the rear of the Wrangler to the tow vehicle anymore. Now, I just plug in to the adapter on the front aftermarket bumper.
The custom Hopkins wiring harness I installed on my 2008 Jeep JK has performed flawlessly. The harness sure beat trying to figure out the wiring and connections myself.

The Wiring harness has been perfect.
The kit was a breeze to install and everything fit just like it stated on the instructions. It's as easy as just plug in and go with my 2017 Jeep Wrangler JKU behind my RV. I would highly recommend this product to anyone especially any Jeep owner. etrailer really did their homework on engineering this product for my type of vehicle which made the installation so simple.

Working flawless every time I use it.
This was very easy to install on my Wrangler Unlimited and ties in very well with the existing lights. I do recommend purchasing the RoadMaster Relay kit.
This would have been 5 stars but the 6 pin connector I ordered some how was replaced with a flat blade 7 pin connector. Shipping was fast and customer service is A+
Great product easy install. I found out on passenger side it was easier to drill with hole saw to pass wire trough cover .then made gromit out of rubber chiar/table cap .Sliced up side and noched for wires snapped right in. Product works great I would recommend .

I bought a complete flat tow parts fir a jeep wrangler. I decided I could install myself. Your installation videos made it nearly a piece of cake. From a quote I got from a RV service business, I saved several thousand dollars installing myself. etrailer is the place to for your RV needs!
Easiest install ever but I took away one star because the connector did not snap together at the tail light. Tried everything to get them to snap in like the stock connector but they would not lock in. Hap to tape them so they wouldn’t pull apart.
Setting up our 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sport to flat tow behind our motorhome. found your website and employees very helpful and knowledgeable. Received Hopkins wiring kit (#hm56200) and brake light relay kit (#rm88400). I will be ordering base plate, tow bar and supplemental brake system plus the etrailer trailer hitch and wiring for the Jeep from etrailer. Your website was very easy to navigate and the video tutorials most helpful for installing the products you offer. Nothing on other websites can compare to the service you offer. I will be looking forward to ordering and installing the other parts I need to complete my flat tow project from etrailer.

I have had no problems with Hopkins wiring kit or the other items I ordered and installed on my 2017 Jeep Wrangler. Towed the Jeep last summer with the motorhome many times, no issues and looking forward to towing it this year on some short trips and a big one to Yellowstone SP. The most challenging install was the base plate and with patience and installation instruction all went together rather easily. The rest was a breeze thanks to your employees returning my questions in a very timely manner. I have a lot of confidence in all the products from etrailer and your employees. Thanks again I have and will continue to recommended your company.
Nice looking unit but it didn't work. No lights
I have now installed the following on my 2017 Wrangler:
Brake light relay kit .
Hopkins Towed vehicle Tail Light wiring kit.
Blue Ox base plate.
Blue Ox Patriot Portable RF Braking System.
All of this has taken about 3 days of work spread out over a week or so. Overall it went well. Not too many surprises. Crawling around under a car at 71 is a bit of a strain but I'll get over it. I must say that Donna P. has been a wonderful source of great information and has stayed right on top of the process. eTrailer has been a great source for this project.
I would recommend you all with no hesitation.
